Katie Defoe-Raymond, MS, RDN, LDNKatie Defoe-Raymond, MS, RDN, LDN - Katie's love for the science of nutrition and passion for helping clients makes her an exceptional dietitian. Her motivating approach facilitates clients to make changes that fit their lifestyle, enjoy food through mindful eating, and improve their health profile. She encourages clients to express themselves, listens to what they have to say, and works with them to meet their needs. She has developed exceptional skills working with all ages and diverse diagnoses through a variety of work and volunteer experiences.

Katie's teaching experience began when she volunteered with the UMass Extension Nutrition Program's summer youth program. She then became an Instructor of Nutrition at Springfield Technical Community College. She gained valuable experience with a diverse population while working with women, infants, and children as a WIC nutritionist and as part of the Massachusetts WIC TOTE group, a task force to develop education materials targeted to reducing overweight/obesity in the WIC population. Katie later became The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts' Nutrition Coordinator where she developed nutrition programs, taught workshops, created nutrition-related educational materials, and helped to develop and implement the Intergenerational Community Meals program. For the past several years she has worked providing nutrition counseling to elders in their homes as a nutrition consultant for WestMass ElderCare, while also gaining clinical and counseling experience as an inpatient clinical dietitian at Day Kimball Hospital in Connecticut.

Katie earned her Bachelor's Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts, Masters of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of New Haven, and completed her dietetic internship through the University of Massachusetts. She has received additional training in weight management. She is currently the Public Relations Chair of WAMDA (Western Area Massachusetts Dietetic Association). When Katie is not working, she enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling.
