What is the first nutrition counseling session like?
When you first sit down with the dietitian, she'll ask you some basic questions about your eating and activity habits. For example, we need to know your routine schedule and what food you like or dislike in order to design an eating plan that fits your personal needs. Making changes in your habits is a team effort between you and the dietitian. She will make many suggestions, you pick which ones you want to try, and she will coach you as you practice them.
Depending on what you want to get out of the meeting, you may leave with some general goals to practice, or you may have a detailed menu plan or both. As we coach you, tell us which suggestions work and those that do not. We'll continually update and adjust your goals to smooth out any bumps on the path to better health.
